Adjusting and Taking Control to Improve our World Experience

What a time to be alive! 😍

Shifts in perspective change the way we view and experience the world.

If the negativity in the news gets you down - take a break, or limit how often and when you consume it.

If the world’s horror stories frustrate and anger you - take action, and get curious about how to help and how to be an ally.

If social comparison is something that takes over your life and causes you to feel bad about yourself - take a break from social media. Curate your feed to be of people and content that uplifts you, informs you, and inspires you!

Any time I look at the news there is a story of a catastrophe. Whether it be economic, political, environmental, etc.

Eventually, I realized I get frustrated, angry, and scared for our future more often than I feel hopeful or optimistic about it.

But to me, this is like watching the weather and wishing it was different.

I can't control the weather, however, I can adjust accordingly to it.

Watching the news and being frustrated or disappointed by it only negates my ability to be responsible for how I experience the world.

As a kid of the 90s, I’ve long been a huge Jim Carrey fan and have been inspired by the personal growth journey he has been on in finding peace and compassion for himself and others.

In a recent interview, Comedian Bill Maher asked him, “You seem happy all the time, are you?”

Jim responds, “No I’m not always happy, happy is the weather, but I do live in a sunny place.”

We can’t always expect to be happy, just like we can't control the weather.

But we can choose our environment and what we consume.

What is your “sunny place”?

What are you doing to live in it?
